Dr. Jamie is very skilled in medical spa procedures. He practices with integrity and honesty. His advice and recommendations for me were effective and not over the top. Love this clinic! The staff are always happy and friendly and are thoughtful to your needs. Taylor and Lisa are waiting for you when you arrive and they always greet you with smiles and positivity.

I have used the Emsella chair (weekly for six weeks) and I have loved the results. Definitely recommend it...can make a big difference in your quality of life!

I have also had some lip filler done with Dr. Olesen... he is amazing at making your lips look enhanced and natural, and works with you to get your desired results. It was also done a lot less painful than other clinics that I have experienced. I would definitely recommend trying him before going elsewhere.

I had Emface and Botox done with Dr. Jamie and I\u2019m so impressed with the results! The Emface treatment was surprisingly relaxing, and my skin is glowing. I have had so many compliments lately, it's been awesome. His staff is so friendly and welcoming too, which made the whole experience even better. Love love love Hemingway spa, Jamie is absolutely a gem, and the girls that work with him are equally as fantastic. I will not go to any other spa period. Right from the moment you step into the office, you are greeted with big smiles and friendly conversation ( if your lucky you may get to meet Charlie and Lucille the office pups). The staff here remember details about my events and daily life and when I return someone always asks \u201c how are your parents, how was your trip to Vegas\u201d? A Letter from Dr. Jamie Olesen<\/b><\/p>\n

Dear Reader,<\/p>\n

I\u2019m very excited to welcome you here and to introduce both myself and what my team at Hemingway Modern Medical (hmm)<\/b> can offer you.<\/p>\n

I grew up in Sherwood Park and completed my medical training and residency at the University of Alberta<\/b>. I have been a licensed Family Medicine specialist for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

Alongside building my clinic, I spent nearly ten years working at the University of Alberta Hospital as a surgical hospitalist in orthopedics<\/b>, caring for patients recovering from major surgery and complex medical conditions.<\/p>\n

That experience changed how I see medicine.<\/p>\n

Working in the hospital, I witnessed tremendous suffering \u2014 often at the later stages of illness, when medicine shifts from preserving vitality to managing decline. Those years reinforced something that has since become central to my mission: helping people maintain their health span, strength, and independence for as long as possible<\/b>, ideally preventing them from needing to enter the hospital system in the first place.<\/p>\n

Over the years I have worn many different \u201cdoctor hats,\u201d but the purpose behind them has always remained the same:<\/p>\n

to help people feel better and live better.<\/b><\/p>\n

My work eventually evolved beyond the traditional boundaries of medicine and into what became Hemingway Medical Spa<\/b>. While the word spa<\/i> was convenient at the time, it never truly captured what we were building. Our clinic has always been a physician-led, patient-centered environment focused on advanced medical technologies, thoughtful care, and a comfortable, welcoming experience.<\/p>\n

That is part of why we evolved into hmm<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The name represents a moment of curiosity. The quiet pause when you encounter an idea that makes you stop and think:<\/p>\n

“Hmm\u2026 tell me more about that.”<\/i><\/p>\n

Because that is exactly what I love sharing with patients: the remarkable ways modern medical technology can harness electromagnetic energy and other advanced therapies to help the body heal, strengthen, and restore itself.<\/p>\n

My training is firmly grounded in traditional evidence-based medicine, but we are also living in an extraordinary moment in healthcare. Social media is full of conversations about peptides, supplements, and emerging therapies; some are promising, while others, questionable. It is an exciting and sometimes chaotic time to be practicing medicine.<\/p>\n

I often think about a line from Lin-Manuel Miranda\u2019s Hamilton<\/b>, when Angelica sings about living in \u201cthe greatest city in the world, in the greatest time in the world.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

In many ways, aspects of \u2018new\u2019 and \u2018modern\u2019 medicine feels like that right now.<\/p>\n

For a long time I focused primarily on providing aesthetic medicine, and while these treatments helped relieve the distress from an aging appearance, it was not enough when I knew I could do so much more. <\/p>\n

And today, we can go much further.<\/p>\n

Using advanced Health Canada\u2013approved medical technologies<\/b>, we help patients improve bladder control, build muscle, strengthen the core, rejuvenate skin, and support mental wellness in ways that are effective, comfortable, and non-invasive.<\/p>\n

And unlike many traditional therapies, these treatments are not designed to make you dependent on weekly visits forever. The goal is to get you back on track<\/b>! By helping the body regain strength, resilience, and function, you will eventually not need us at all. <\/p>\n
